Briefing
Enemy Forces
By the end of 1981 the rebels started harassing the supply lines along the Termez-Andkhoy-Meymaneh route, particularly in the Dawlatabad district (province of Faryab). Intelligence reported a band of 30-40 mujahideen operating in the region, attacking vehicles and convoys.
Friendly Forces
Your company received an order to escort a 20-truck convoy on a 110-kilometer route from Andkhoy to Meymaneh. The company is reinforced with an engineer squad and a tank platoon. You have a priority call for the helicopter support. The first leg of the trip passed without incidents.
Terrain and Weather
It is morning in Dawlatabad. The weather is clear and cold, with medium northern wind.
Mission
You are now approaching the village of Dawlatabad. The forward patrol reports the village appears deserted. Your duty is to safely pass Dawlatabad and ensure the convoy reaches the Meymaneh road.
Commander's Intent
Be on guard. The narrow street of a village are traditional troube (sic) sport, and the silence of Dawlatabad speaks of a likely ambush.
