Enemy Forces
The spring of 1980 was marked with an increased guerilla activity in the region around Kabul. Small bands of mujahideen assembled in larger groups to ambush the soviet and afghani forces, then scattered to hide in small villages. Unpredictable and enjoying the support of locals, the rebels employed their hit-and-run tactics to great success.
Friendly Forces
Your motorized rifle company is reinforcing a mountain rifle battalion on its mission to conduct a deep raid and search for the rebel bands in the mountainous area west of Charikar. While marching dismounted, the company has received an order to conduct a search of a nearby village of Kirgar, then take a road west to rejoin the main body. The company is at full force, but only a few BMP infantry fighting vehicles are accompanying the rifle platoons. You can rely on helicopter support in case of emergency.

Terrain and Weather
Kirgar is a dense, walled village nested in a valley between rocky hills. The sky is clear, the weather is dry and warm with a light northwestern wind.
Mission
Your assignment is to enter the village and conduct a thorough search for any rebel forces. The mujahideen of Kirgar are most likely forewarned of the approach of the company, and will either flee to the surrounding mountains or take a desperate last stand if cornered in the village. Their numbers and composition are unknown.
Commander's Intent
Take care not to be caught in the sudden attempt at breakthrough on the village streets, or ambushed in the surrounding area. As this is a routine search mission, staying out of trouble and keeping casualties low is first priority, although the capture or destruction of rebels and particularly their leaders are also important.
